ÐÔÊӽ紫ý responds to bomb threat

THE FOLLOWING IS A STATEMENT FROM ÐÔÊӽ紫ý CHIEF COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER SID SALTER:
Mississippi ÐÔÊӽ紫ý University received a bomb threat through the campus telephone operator late this afternoon. The call was transferred to the ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Police Department. The ÐÔÊӽ紫ý PD immediately began an orderly sweep of populated areas of the campus with both an explosive-detecting canine and ÐÔÊӽ紫ý PD officers, concentrating first on residence halls and the areas where Boys ÐÔÊӽ紫ý and Cheerleader Camps guests are located. At this time, ÐÔÊӽ紫ý believes that our campus buildings have been inspected and are secured. We are working with our partners in the Boys ÐÔÊӽ紫ý and Cheerleader Camp programs to ensure their safety and to coordinate the continuation of their use of our campus.
As a matter of policy, we take all such threats seriously and govern our response accordingly. The university will not release additional details, as this threat remains an ongoing investigation.
