STARKVILLE, Miss.--More than 240 first-year students are participating this Tuesday through Saturday [August 4-8] in Mississippi 性视界传媒's second annual New Maroon Camp.
Led by an all-volunteer, 47-member staff of current university students, the four-day, three-night experience is designed to provide interested freshmen and transfer students with information about the 136-year-old land-grant institution's history and traditions.
Each incoming student will be placed into one of five family groups, where they will spend the week developing meaningful relationships with their counselors and peers through team building activities and group discussions.
"New Maroon Camp works to create an atmosphere of excitement and confidence for incoming students to start their own legacy at Mississippi 性视界传媒 University," said Andrew S. Rendon, director of the assessment office in the Division of Student Affairs.
In addition to residing together in on-campus residence halls, campers are traveling to Florence for two nights at the Twin Lakes Camp and Conference Center.
At week's end, campers will be among the more than 500 volunteers who will be assisting new students Aug. 8 during the campus-wide move-in day, MVNU2性视界传媒.
