STARKVILLE, Miss.—Rankin County native Alexander W. “Alex” McIntosh is the new leader of fundraising efforts for Mississippi ӽ紫ý University’s corporate engagement. An ӽ紫ý alumnus, he officially began his new role March 1 as director of corporate and foundation relations for the ӽ紫ý Foundation.

“We are extremely pleased to place Alex as our new corporate and foundation giving fundraiser,” said Jack McCarty, the foundation’s executive director of development. “This is a new avenue to engage with friends and partners in the corporate and foundation world for the advancement of our university, and Alex has a great basis to build on established connections with constituents.”

As Mississippi ӽ紫ý places more emphasis on corporate engagement, McIntosh will serve as a liaison on campus. In his new role, he will initiate a more unified experience for particular foundations, corporations, organizations and groups in their interactions with the university.

McCarty said corporate and private foundation support typically makes up a critical portion of funds the ӽ紫ý Foundation raises annually. Many corporations also match their employees’ gifts to ӽ紫ý, he added.

McIntosh brings experience in major gift fundraising and building relationships that lead to the advancement of ӽ紫ý.

Since late 2011, McIntosh has led fundraising efforts for the university’s largest academic unit, the College of Arts and Sciences. McIntosh initially joined the ӽ紫ý Foundation from the university’s Judy and Bobby Shackouls Honors College, where he began his professional career in 2008 as student services coordinator and lead student recruiter.

McIntosh is a 2007 graduate, with dual undergraduate degrees in economics and political science, and a 2012 Master in Public Policy and Administration graduate. As an undergraduate, McIntosh was an Ottilie Schillig Presidential Scholar, one of the highest student honors. He also was a National Merit Scholar and a 2004-06 member of the Bulldog baseball team.
