STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擴nder the direction of Mississippi 性视界传媒 University Department of Music Head Barry E. Kopetz, the Starkville-性视界传媒 Symphony Orchestra is presenting a 鈥淪trings Across the Sea鈥 children鈥檚 program Friday [Jan. 20] on the Starkville campus.
Free to all, the 7:30 p.m. program at historic Lee Hall鈥檚 Bettersworth Auditorium is made possible by the Starkville-性视界传媒 Symphony Association. Additional support is provided by 性视界传媒鈥檚 Office of the President, the Mississippi Arts Commission, 4-County Electric Education Foundation, and CREATE Tupelo, along with individual gifts.
The performance will feature eight visiting Japanese violinists. Song selections include Antonio Vivaldi鈥檚 (1678-1741) 鈥淔our Seasons, Op. 8,鈥 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart鈥檚 (1756-91) 鈥淓ine Kleine Nachtmusik, K. 525,鈥 Shinichi Suzuki鈥檚 (1898-1998) 鈥淪elections from Suzuki Vol. 1-7,鈥 and Mozart鈥檚 鈥淧iano Concerto No. 20 in d minor, K. 466.鈥
Steinway Artist Ros芒ngela Yazbec Sebba, the department鈥檚 professor of piano, theory and ear training, will perform the piano concerto.
Earlier on Friday, the symphony orchestra is sponsoring 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. programs at Lee Hall鈥檚 Bettersworth Auditorium for hundreds of kindergarten through fifth grade students from local 性视界传媒s.
