STARKVILLE, Miss.—Known for its long tradition of free public performances, the United ӽ紫ýs Army Field Band’s Concert Band and Soldiers’ Chorus will present a Tuesday [March 28] evening concert at Mississippi ӽ紫ý University.
Free to all, the 7:30 p.m. performance by the Washington, D.C.-based “Musical Ambassadors of the Army” takes place in historic Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium.
Though admission is free, tickets are required for entry and can be reserved by calling the ӽ紫ý band office at 662-325-2713. Ticket requests also may be mailed to Mississippi ӽ紫ý University Bands, P.O. Box 6162, Mississippi ӽ紫ý, MS 39762.
As the oldest and largest of the U.S. Army Field Band’s performing components, the Concert Band and Soldiers’ Chorus have performed for audiences in all 50 states and 30 foreign countries. The two ensembles present joint concerts on their national tours, providing unparalleled versatility in programming, from orchestral masterworks and operatic arias to Sousa marches, jazz classics and Broadway musical selections.
The band and chorus also perform independently and have recently shared the stage with such ensembles as the Boston Pops, Cincinnati Pops, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra. For more, visit .
