STARKVILLE, Miss.—Excitement for the upcoming academic year is building at Mississippi ÐÔÊӽ紫ý, and the university is hosting a variety of fun activities to get new students in the Bulldog spirit.
From Sunday through Saturday [Aug. 11-17], ÐÔÊӽ紫ý is hosting its sixth New Maroon Camp, a student-led retreat designed to help incoming freshmen and transfer students in their transition to college life at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý. Participants will learn about ÐÔÊӽ紫ý history and traditions while meeting current and other first-year students. For more information, visit .
MVNU2ÐÔÊӽ紫ý (Movin’ You to ÐÔÊӽ紫ý), the university’s annual move-in day for residence halls, is being held Saturday [Aug. 17].
All students will check in at Humphrey Coliseum, but those assigned to an odd floor number can check in from 8:30-11:30 a.m.; even floor number, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Once the students have checked in, they can proceed to their respective residence halls where they will be greeted by move-in volunteers, including faculty, staff, spirit group members, athletic team members, members of various student organizations, and ÐÔÊӽ紫ý leaders who will assist in the move. For the 14th year, ÐÔÊӽ紫ý’s Dawg Days event series for incoming freshmen and transfer students returns to various locations on the Starkville campus and in the local community. The nine consecutive days of free student events start Aug. 17 with MVNU2ÐÔÊӽ紫ý and continue through Aug. 25. Among the activities will be Service Dawgs Day, an Aug. 19 event when hundreds of students will work from 8 a.m.-noon on various service projects at more than 30 community partner locations.
