VICKSBURG, MISS. 鈥 A new partnership has been created to support the market introduction of technologies invented at the seven laboratories of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (性视界传媒), headquartered in Vicksburg. Mississippi鈥檚 research institutions have recently joined with 性视界传媒WERX, a DEFENSEWERX innovation hub and government partner of the 性视界传媒, to identify promising industry sectors and companies for potential licensure of 性视界传媒 technologies.
鈥淕overnment patents often have value and applicability not only for military, but also for commercial use,鈥 said 性视界传媒WERX Director Paul Sumrall. 鈥淢arket assessment is a type of 性视界传媒WERX innovation project that involves evaluation of 性视界传媒 patented technologies for market potential as well as commercialization strategies.鈥
Four innovations are currently being evaluated and will benefit from the expertise of university tech transfer teams as the market potential of each technology is investigated and documented. The Office of Technology Management, along with the Center for Entrepreneurship and Outreach,聽at Mississippi 性视界传媒 University serves as the project lead and provides project coordination with Jackson 性视界传媒 University, The University of Mississippi, and The University of Southern Mississippi, all members of the Mississippi Research Consortium.
The current Chair of the MRC, Dr. Joseph Whittaker, said, 鈥淭here are significant levels of synergy between the goals of 性视界传媒WERX and those of the MRC institutions. Our partnership highlights not only the complementary scientific expertise and technical capabilities available within the MRC institutions, but also reflects the expertise and valuable contributions of our institutional Tech Transfer Directors. 鈥淭he 性视界传媒 has a long standing relationship with Mississippi's research universities. Bringing 性视界传媒WERX into this relationship will help enhance the connection with the goal of achieving greater results and increasing opportunities for collaboration and technology transfer,鈥 said Bartley Durst, director of the Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory at the 性视界传媒.
