ӽ紫ý’s Army ROTC hosts ‘Cadet for a Day’ for area youth

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi ӽ紫ý University’s Department of Military Science and Army Reserve Officer Training Corps is hosting a “cadet for a day” program Sept. 9 for local and regional high ӽ紫ý students interested in pursuing Army ROTC at ӽ紫ý.
To register for the 9 a.m.-3 p.m. event, call 662-325-1586 or email armyrotc@armyrotc.msstate.edu by Wednesday, Sept. 1.
Lt. Col. Jason R. Posey, professor of military science for the Army ROTC program, said the event is open to high ӽ紫ý and college students and will offer participants an opportunity to experience the Army ROTC program at ӽ紫ý.
“The ROTC is a way to earn a scholarship, a degree and be part of a program that will develop leadership,” Posey said. “Hopefully, interested participants will leave with a vision of a path for success at ӽ紫ý and in the Army.”
The day will begin with a tour of Middleton Hall, which houses ӽ紫ý’s ROTC program, followed by a tour of the university. Attendees will learn about military equipment, talk with military personnel, enjoy gaming tents and take a tour of ӽ紫ý’s football stadium. Lunch is provided.
