STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥Two Mississippi 性视界传媒 Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering professors have been named Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Fellows for their significant contributions and accomplishments in their field.

Yong Fu and Masoud Karimi are selections for the IEEE Fellow Class of 2025 in the Research Engineer/Scientist category for their major, impactful advancements and applications in the engineering field.

Fu, the Tennessee Valley Authority Endowed Professor in 性视界传媒鈥檚 James Worth Bagley College of Engineering, is being honored for his contributions to computational optimization and parallel computing for power system operation. Karimi鈥檚 designation is for his research contributions to synchronization, modeling and control of power electronic converters in DC/AC applications.
Both professors said they are grateful for the IEEE鈥檚 recognition.
鈥淚 appreciate my students and collaborators for their scientific contributions and for the lasting support from my colleagues and the university,鈥 Fu said. 鈥淭his recognition encourages my team to continue contributing to our beloved power system research field and producing successful outcomes to benefit our society further.鈥
鈥淚 am honored to have been elected an IEEE Fellow,鈥 Karimi added. 鈥淚 thank the IEEE for acknowledging and appreciating years of research work that is done by our team including many hardworking students and collaborating colleagues.鈥
Fu鈥檚 research interests include renewable energy integration and the operation, control and economics of power systems. He has published more than 100 articles in IEEE Transactions and Proceedings and serves as editor for two IEEE journals. In 2012, he received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award. Fu received bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees in electrical engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China and a doctorate in electrical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Karimi researches power and energy systems, energy-conversion systems, power electronics and control systems, among other topics. He has served as an IEEE member for more than 20 years and is an associate editor for several of its publications. He has more than 10,000 scholarly citations and holds multiple patents for his work. Karimi received bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees in electrical engineering from Isfahan University of Technology in Iran and a doctorate in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto in Canada.
